Natto

I took this from a great siteGaijin is an old word for foreigner. (its seen as semi racist now as it literally means outside person)
My topic is Natto. Fermented soy beans. It is a sticky, gloopy, stringy, pungent mas usually served on rice but advocates will  put it on anything from bread to pizza.

the supposed health benefits of natto include lowering heigh blood pressure and cholesterol, preventing strokes and heart attacks and helping the Japanese stay the perfect kind of slim they are.

Japanese people are bizarrely proud of natto which has an alleged been an staple in the Japanese diet for a thousand years.

If you live in Japan you will be asked if you can eat natto by everyone you meet……………..without fail.
